Service Upgrade Increases Capacity to Louisville’s 3rd Busiest Air Market
Growth continues at Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport (SDF) as United Airlines announces the introduction of mainline service on their morning flight to Denver (DEN) beginning Friday, June 3. The up-gauge in aircraft to an Airbus A319 is an 80% increase in seat capacity over the current aircraft.
“Denver has been one of our top markets for years and serves as a critical western gateway,” said Dan Mann, Executive Director of the Louisville Regional Airport Authority. “We’re excited that United continues to recognize the strength of this route by adding larger aircraft with improved passenger amenities. Their investment not only allows more people to travel between Louisville and Denver, but also increases our connectivity to the West Coast and Mountain West regions.”
United’s mainline flight is scheduled to depart SDF at 9:40 a.m. daily. The Airbus A319 offers 126-seats, first class, United economy plus, in-seat power and WiFi. In addition to the morning departure, a second daily flight to the Mile-High City is also available on a regional jet with similar amenities from SDF in the afternoon. From Denver, passengers can connect to over 170 destinations worldwide.
United offers daily flights to five cities from Louisville. In addition to Denver, nonstop service is available to Chicago-O’Hare (ORD), Houston-George Bush Intercontinental (IAH), Newark (EWR) and Washington, D.C.-Dulles (IAD).
“Expanding existing routes is just as important to our growth as adding new routes,” added Anthony Gilmer, Director of Marketing and Air Service Development. “United’s capacity on this route has doubled in the last two years. With this addition, every airline at SDF now offers a mainline product in the market, which is a great step forward for Louisville.”
