Construction Begins on Airport Terminal Enhancements – 1/18/16
January 18, 2016
Construction will begin today, Monday, January 18 on the $9.5 million interior improvements to the Louisville International Airport terminal. (In addition, HMSHost and Paradies-Louisville II, LLC are investing more than $8 million combined in improvements to the airport’s food-and-beverage outlets and gift-and-news retailers.) Temporary construction signs will be installed throughout the terminal to direct passengers and other airport guests during the project—which should be finished in Fall 2016. The first phase of construction includes installing terrazzo flooring on the west end of the departure (upper) level of the terminal. Please note that certain areas will not be accessible during this process.
The following adjustments will take place from Monday, January 18 through late February:
Before the Security Checkpoint (Landside Terminal)
- Far West Exterior Doors: The west side exterior doors (closest to Air Valet and at the west end of the upper roadway) will be temporarily closed. To enter the terminal, please proceed east to the next set of entry doors.
- West Elevators: Level 3 (ticketing) will not be accessible via the west elevators. For elevator access to ticketing from the west side of the parking garage, passengers and other airport guests can take the elevator to Level 2 (baggage claim) and follow signs to the center or east elevators.
- United Airlines Ticket Counters: The United Airlines ticket counters will be temporarily relocated next to the American Airlines ticket counters. Please note that the first phase of construction after the security checkpoint (Airside Terminal) will begin in late January
