Airport Authority Announces Board Officers – July 17th, 2014

At the annual meeting of the Board of Directors of the Louisville Regional Airport Authority on Wednesday, July 16, Mayor Greg Fischer appointed Vice Chairman Jim Welch as Chairman of the Board. In addition, the Board elected Phil Lynch as Vice Chairman and re-elected Jon Meyer as SecretaryTreasurer. Welch is Vice Chairman of Brown-Forman Corporation with global responsibility for corporate strategy, human resources, corporate affairs and diversity and is a member of Brown-Forman’s Board of Directors.
Mr. Welch currently serves as President of the Board of Directors for the Louisville Orchestra. He also serves on the Executive Committee and boards of Louisville’s Downtown Development Corporation, The Fund for the Arts, and Greater Louisville Inc. (Louisville’s Chamber of Commerce). He has served as Chairman of The Nature Conservancy-Kentucky Chapter, is a former President of River Fields Inc., and is a former trustee of Bernheim Forest and Research Arboretum. In addition, he is an instrument-rated private pilot with more than 2,000 hours of flight time and a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. Welch earned a bachelor’s degree in economics, graduating cum laude from Princeton University in 1981.
Mr. Lynch is Vice President, Director of Corporate Communications for Brown-Forman and was appointed to the Board in April 2003. He will serve as Vice Chairman, assisting with the transition in board leadership, until he retires from the board at the conclusion of his current term in February 2015. Mr. Meyer was appointed to the Board and first elected Secretary-Treasurer in 2011. He is Partner and Chair of the Board of Jones, Nale & Mattingly PLC, Certified Public Accountants in Louisville, KY.
