Breeze Airways Takes Flight at Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport
May 28, 2021
Today new airline Breeze Airways took flight from the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport (SDF) for its inaugural flights. Louisville is one of 16 launch cities across the country for the new airline, offering nonstop flights to Charleston, SC (CHS), Tampa (TPA) and New Orleans (MSY). Nonstop flights to Charleston, SC and Tampa begin today Friday, May 28, with service to New Orleans starting Thursday, July 15. Flights are now on sale at www.FlyBreeze.com and the Breeze app, starting at just $39* one way.
“We’re so excited to be touching down in Louisville today ahead of the busy Memorial Day holiday weekend,” said Breeze Founder and CEO David Neeleman. “Sales in the last week have truly been incredible. Seems people really prefer $39 fares and nonstop flights overpaying more to connect through hubs! At this rate, we’ll be adding more flights and destinations soon!”
Breeze is a “Seriously Nice” airline aimed at merging technology with kindness. They provide nonstop service from medium and small markets across the country with affordable fares. Guests can select from a Nice, Nicer or Nicest fare package to meet their needs.
“Breeze Airways has chosen Louisville as one of their launch cities and we could not be more excited to be their partner,” said Dan Mann, Executive Director of the Louisville Regional Airport Authority. “This is another way we’re expanding options for travelers in the region and making it easier for people to visit our great city.”
Breeze will operate service from SDF to Charleston, Tampa and New Orleans four-times weekly to each destination year-round with flights on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays using an Embraer E190/195 with 108 and 118-seats. Already planning for continued growth, the airline ordered 60 brand new Airbus A220 aircraft that will be delivered beginning in Fall 2021 throughout the next five years.
“This is a great day for our city as we welcome Breeze Airways,” said Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer. “Their addition will only further enhance air travel options for our community and allow others to experience all that we have to offer in Louisville. The team at the airport continue to do great work that benefits access for all.”
With the addition of Breeze Airways, SDF offers 35 nonstop destinations on eight airlines for area travelers. SDF continues to outpace the national average for returning capacity. Beginning in June, Louisville will be at nearly 100% of pre-pandemic travel levels, about 20% ahead of the national trend.
*$39 fare is available on select flights. Seats are limited. Must be purchased by May 31, 2021 for travel through February 15, 2022. Price displayed includes taxes & government fees. Fare rules, routes and schedules are subject to change without notice. Restrictions apply.
