Petty Named Deputy Executive Director of Operations
September 20, 2012
Steve Petty recently was named the Deputy Executive Director of Operations for the Louisville Regional Airport Authority (LRAA). Skip Miller, Executive Director of the LRAA, noted, “After a lengthy national search, it was clear that Steve’s 30 years of aviation experience and his proven leadership as the Airport Authority’s Director of Public Safety made him the best person to assume this important position.” In his new position, Petty will oversee airfield operations, maintenance, public safety and terminal facility functions at the LRAA’s two airports—Louisville International (SDF) and Bowman Field (LOU). In 2004, Petty joined the Authority as its Director of Public Safety after 20 years at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG).
Under his guidance, a unified Public Safety Department was created, with all officers cross-trained in police, firefighting, EMS and dispatch duties. Petty is an accredited Airport Executive (A.A.E.) through the American Association for Airport Executives (AAAE), a member of Airports Council International North America (ACI-NA) Public Safety/Security Steering Group and currently serves on the board of directors as the First Vice President for the Aviation Law Enforcement Agencies Network (ALEAN). A graduate of Xavier University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, he also holds an associate degree in Property Management from Cincinnati State Technical and Community College.
